SCENE 1

Amy and Lynne are sitting at a coffee shop. Amy looks at her watch and sighs.

AMY

He’s late.

LYNNE

(going through the newspaper)

Yeah.

Amy scoots closer to Lynne and they stare at the ad. section.

LYNNE

(pointing at one ad.)

Look, this one looks interesting ‘Cottage, 3bedrooms in a safe quiet village’

Amy looks at Lynne in doubt.

AMY

Hm, I don’t know. You know those creepy stories you see in the news where a mass murderer kills the whole village? It always happen in the ‘safe and quite’ places.

LYNNE

True.

They keep looking at him and suddenly a hand grabs the newspaper and pulls it down. Kai smiles at them apologetically.

KAI

I’m sorry. Got caught up in traffic.

AMY

You don’t drive.

KAI

You know what I mean.

Amy and Lynne stare at him for a moment frowning. Kai looks at them then to the newspaper.

KAI

Soooo… any luck?

LYNNE

No really… OH! Wait… look at this!

She points at an ad. with the picture of a mansion on a hill that looks somewhat creepy.

AMY

‘Mansion on the Hill’

KAI

Wow, looks big and it’s not even that expensive. What does it say?

LYNNE

‘Totally isolated mansion, 10 bedroom, 3 common rooms, huge lounge area, garden, big basements, loft, available now.’

The three of them exchange looks and smile. Lynne circles the ad. with a pen.

AMY - Character Profile / -not finished yet

Name:Amy
Age: 23
Job: Game Tester

Apperance: Average height and slim. She has dyed black hair, blue eyes and fair skin tone. She usually wears spectables, if she doesn't forget where they are, black leather coat, white hoody, skirt and knee high boots. Oddly, doesn't matter how warm it is, she is always wearing fingerless gloves.

KAI - Character Profile version1

Name: Kai
Age: 25
Job: Comic Artist

Apperance: Tall, slender and attractive. He has greyish green eyes and black messy hair. He's usually wearing a black and red stripped top, bootleg blue jeans and boots. He sometimes carries a messenger with a sketchpad, pens, pencils and at least 2 manga books.

Personality Traits: He is usually very calm until something, or someone, gets close to his manga and comic book collection, then he gest agitated and anxious. Despite living in the fantasy world most of the time due to his work, Kai doesn't believe in anything surreal or paranormal when it comes to real life.
He has the bad habit of being late, whether it's and important occasion or not. The truth is that he doesn't realise time has passed at all, which makes him a bit of an airhead. Finding lame excuses at the last minute is his especiality.
He doesn't seem to be very smart, but that is because he's always thinking of something to do with his comic books.

Background: Kai can only afford being a comic artist and manga collector because his parents passed away and left him with a loaded bank account. He finished university, where he studied with Amy and Lynne, and did nothing after that. He lived with his parents throughout his school years and the first few years of university, then kept living on his own in his parents flat until he decided to move in with Amy and Lynne.

Interesting facts: He drinks alot of milk and is always with a glass of it on his hands.

I draw a sketch of Kai a week ago, but he looks far too trendy for the personality i wanted him to have. I'm uploading that image anyway. He is the one on the left with headphones.

SYNOPSIS

Three colleagues are looking for a new house to move in together. They sit at a coffee shop for their first day of search and soon find the perfect home: a mansion isolated from society on a top of a hill. Despite the advertisement on the newspaper saying ‘haunted mansion’ the three of them believe that’s the perfect house for then to buy. They arrange a visit and without even having a look inside they decide to go for it.

The mansion is almost empty, whatever furniture is in there it’s covered in dust and spider web. Oblivious of how creepy the place is, they choose their bedrooms and move in their things.

Night falls and odd things start to happen, but the tree of them always manage to find something logical explanation to the events, ignoring the dangers they are actually facing.

Personal Blog issue

My group ( me, Lynne and Tasha) discussed last week about how to use the personal blog and still help out on ideas for the group animatics. Things got confusing so each one will work on whatever they prefer for the personal blog. I decided to post my personal ideas that developed from what we had in mind for the group project, this way, when week 6 comes, we will have something to choose from.

Confusion and new Blog

Yesterday i got even more confused about the blog thing. Me, Lynne and Tasha created a new blog for out group project called NoWayAnimation ( http://www.nowayanimation.blogspot.com/ ) so all the ideas refering to out group animatics will be posted there... the confusion is that i don't know what is the purpose of this personal blog since the story and ideas here wont be at all part of the project we will be marked on.

In any case, i know post some stuff here if i have the time, but i suppose i'll be focusing on the other blog more now.

I was talking to a friend, the one who helped me create this story ( the idea of it anyway) and i got everything wrong. Haru lives with his granny and the dog, Asuka is the one that moves in with his father after his mom's death. So where i put 'Asuka's bedroom' is actually Haru's bedroom... the granny lives on the top bedroom and the dad will move down. I knew there was something weird going on... >< I have such a bad memory.

Rambling

I was more or less bored the other day and decided to create a big more on this story. Dunno if my group, whoever they are, will go for my story/characters, but it's always a good exercise i reckon.
This is how Asuka's house always existed in my head, apart from granny's room, i always known she lived with them but i forgot about where she stayed... so i added a door there. Then i tried drawing Asuka for the 1st time and he looks older than i hoped... grrr... maybe i'll change Haru's design.

Asuka is very shy and usually very quiet/sad... especially after his mother left.... i think he was fine when she was around.

First Sketch Idea - Haru

I made a post earlier but deleted. I decided to change things a bit. I thought it would be a good idea to make my character older but then i realised maybe it wouldn't be so appealing and would be creepier if the characters were actually children, so i sketcked Haru out again... but younger. It's not very good but it was done on Photoshop and i hate sketching digitally. Don't ask me why he's squeezing that thing... I don't even know what it is!

I'd like to have one of his eyes covered... looks wicker that way. Don't think the design of the clothes will be that... looks too simple/boring, but i'll change that once i write the script properly.
